The third version of the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement, or MORE, Act was introduced on May 28. Perkins Coie lawyers Barak Cohen and Andrew Kline, in partnership with Yoko Miyashita, CEO of Leafly, authored an article discussing the bill. They make the case that Congress should regulate intentionally and make certain that state and federal regulatory authority is spelled out clearly in any cannabis descheduling bill. They also argue that a transition period is needed prior to interstate commerce or imports to ensure that we protect the public health, preserve critical social equity programs, and safeguard American jobs.
